You might think cleaning an Airbnb or Vrbo is just like a typical house cleaning, but it’s not. A turnover cleaning has more steps involved than a regular cleaning. Everything needs to be perfect in order for your guests to be happy. You’ve probably stayed somewhere where there was grime, dirt or other leftover “ick” from previous guests and it can affect your stay. We’ll review all that you need to do for guests room by room to keep your place looking amazing and your guests happy.
Bathrooms
- Check sink and shower drains for hair or clogs
- Clean shower faucet
- Clean faucets
- Make sure hand soap is stocked
- Scrub the toilet
- Spray and rinse shower and shower curtain
- Sweep or vacuum the floor and then mop
- Remove trash
Bedrooms
- Change and replace sheets and towels
- Briefly check closets (look for left behind items, anything out of place)
- Sweep/vacuum space (including under the bed)
- Wipe down blades of fans
- Wipe down windows
- Clean up any trash and empty trash bins
Kitchen
- Wipe down stove and check oven for messes
- Check the refrigerator for leftover food or messes
- Wipe down refrigerator shelves
- Clean faucets
- Replace kitchen towels with clean ones
- Clean sink
- Empty/run dishwasher as needed
- Wipe cabinets to remove crumbs or other messes
- Make sure hand soap is full
- Remove trash
- Wipe down counters
Laundry Room/Utility Room
- Remove dryer lint
- Wipe down exterior of washer and dryer (including the buttons and knobs)
- Check and clean up any detergent spills
- Check that laundry baskets are clean and ready for use
Living/Family Room
- Dust/wipe any furniture and high-touch surfaces
- Inspect closets for left items
- Empty trash bins
- Sweep/vacuum space (including under couches and tables)
- Wipe down fan blades if applicable
- Wipe down the windows
Check Restock Items
- Coffee/tea/coffee filters if applicable
- Dish soaps/hand soaps
- Laundry detergent
- Napkins/paper towels
- Toiletries (shampoo/conditioner/body wash)
- Trash bags
- Any other items that need restocking?
Final Check
- Adjust the thermostat to a comfortable temperature
- Do a final check of each room
- Empty the recycling
Exterior of Property
- Remove any trash or debris
- Clean BBQ grill or other outdoor cooking
- Disinfect any dining areas
- Pull weeds
- Shake out “Welcome” mats
- Sweep sitting/eating area
- Wipe down patio furniture
- Remove any cobwebs in outside entryway
- Check outside lights
- A final check of the room
