"Tombleson's Panoramic Map of the THAMES and MEDWAY" - an iconic Victorian vertical format map of the river Thames by William Tombleson, published by J. Reynolds, 174 Strand, London, in 1850.

This print features nine additional restored engraved Victorian views of the River Thames and its famous landmarks, added to the restored original map as inset illustrations. These include: Oxford from the Meadows; Eton College from the Thames; Scene from Richmond Hill; Windsor Castle from the Thames; St. Paul’s Cathedral; Houses of Parliament & Westminster Bridge; Greenwich Hospital; Gravesend; and the North Foreland. If you would prefer the authentic option without insets, please see our other listings for Tombleson’s Thames panoramic map.

Tombleson's Panoramic Map of the Thames and Medway was a steel engraved black & white print and published originally as a folded accompaniment to a book "Tombleson's Thames" by William Gray Fearnside, in 1834, in London. The map extends from river Thames source in Gloucestershire to the sea and shows in great detail the towns, countryside, landmarks, railways, bridges and roads. Due to its popularity, a lithographed coloured version of the map was issued separately by James Reynolds, 174 Strand, London, first in 1850 and many times subsequently, later with revised details. To this day, Tombleson's Thames & Medway remains one of the finest maps of river Thames.

William Tombleson (1795 - 1846) was an English artist, illustrator, engraver, writer and printmaker, based in London. In the 1830s, his topographical drawings of the rivers Thames and Medway in England, and the upper and middle River Rhine in Germany, were published as engraved prints and books.

This poster is a high quality "giclée" reproduction of a restored antique original, custom-printed on Standard Single-weight Matt Coated art paper 140gsm or  Heavyweight Matt Coated art paper 230gsm (more of a thin card density), or superb Epson Matt Canvas 320gsm, according to your choice. We use the latest UltraChromeHDX pigment inks which guarantee 60 years of colour  permanence (up to 200 years fade-proof for colour prints).  This poster is suitable for mounting and framing, as well as direct display on a wall.

Please note the XLarge size option print would have white border approximately 2inch/5cm all around, for a buyer to trim.

This high-resolution, museum-grade fine art print is produced from a unique restored image. Printed on premium archival-quality art paper or canvas, it makes a striking addition to any interior as wall décor or a poster, and a memorable gift for lovers of antique and vintage maps, collectors of historic prints, historians, and explorers. Almost indistinguishable from the original Victorian engraving, it adds character and interest to a study, library, or office wall. It also makes a thoughtful gift for all occasions, including Christmas, Valentine’s Day, Easter, and Father’s or Mother’s Day.

This era of Batman is well-written and beautifully drawn
Format: Hardcover
This era of Batman is well-written and beautifully drawn. But that consistency is also its weakness. These are mostly detective stories, hardly any super villains, mostly gangsters and corrupt businessman. Batwoman is introduced here, and Bat-hound is featured in certain stories. Even Superman and the Joker appear briefly. Someone commits a crime, Batman figures out who did it, and the story ends in 12 pages. The Batman team was a well-oiled machine in the 1950s Still I recommend it. Worth it for the art alone and some great novelty stories.

Good for depression.
Format: Hardcover, Format: Hardcover
A lot of modern day comics have a drab flat look to them, the tales are typically high stakes crossover events that require lots of in depth reading with low pay off. These take me back to a less complicated time, without being constantly reminded of how dire the world is today. This book is full of fun one off events, that keep you hooked. Also, while I enjoy a lone brooding Batman, I am also a big fan of friendly easy going Batman and Robin, Robin is the reader inserted, asking all the right questions. All in all this book is worth every penny, and I look forward to sharing it with future generations.

Wonderful reprint book!
Format: Hardcover
As an older collector, who is downsizing his collection, i am able to purchase a great reprint book to pull off the shelf anytime and relive my childhood, while at the same time selling my original copies and letting someone else enjoy the older books, and the ads in them. bright colorful pages, without the chance of damaging my older comics. I highly recommend this long awaited volume, and eagerly await the next volume 2 of the Silver Age Batman stories!
