Hoe hoger de cuin waarde des te minder dons nodig is om een bepaalt volume te krijgen. En dat maakt een slaapzak lichter en kleiner in te pakken. 700 cuin eendendons is dus beter van kwaliteit dan 600 cuin ganzendons. De betere merken impregneren hun dons. Daardoor werkt de slaapzak minder als een vochtvreter en droogt hij sneller mocht hij nat worden. Deze slaapzak is gemaakt van 'responsible down' (RDS). Dat betekend dat de veren niet levend geplukt zijn en dat dat de dons traceerbaar is.
