NAD staat bekend om zijn innovatieve, hoogwaardige en toch betaalbare draaitafels. Hoewel de basiswerking van een platenspeler eenvoudig lijkt, is er zowel wetenschap als kunst voor nodig om alle muzikale energie uit de groeven van de plaat te halen zonder destructieve resonanties op te wekken. Laten we alle elementen van de C 588 eens nader bekijken met een uitleg van de keuzes die we hebben gemaakt.

ELEKTRONISCHE SNELHEIDSREGELING

De exacte toonhoogte (snelheid) is belangrijk, maar het menselijk gehoor is veel gevoeliger voor kortstondige snelheidsveranderingen die we uitdrukken met de termen Wow en Flutter. Zoals de naam al zegt, is Wow een langzame cyclische snelheidsvariatie. Het slechtste voorbeeld is het geluid van een ernstig vervormde plaat, waarbij de stylus sneller beweegt aan de stijgende kant van de vervorming en langzamer aan de dalende kant, wat abrupte veranderingen in de muzikale toonhoogte veroorzaakt. Flutter noemen we zeer snelle en kleine variaties die meestal door de motor worden gegenereerd. De C 588 pakt beide problemen aan met bewezen en effectieve oplossingen. Een gespecialiseerde, zeer nauwkeurige, synchrone klokmotor is zowel zeer soepel als nauwkeurig, vooral wanneer hij wordt aangedreven door een stabiele wisselspanning. Om een zuivere en stabiele wisselspanning te garanderen, isoleren we het wisselstroomnet door het eerst om te zetten in een zuivere gelijkspanning en dan elektronisch de precieze wisselspanningsfrequentie te genereren om de synchrone motor te regelen. Het gebruik van een speciaal samengestelde riem om de platter aan te drijven filtert en isoleert alle resterende trillingen. Alle roterende onderdelen zijn gemaakt van een aluminiumlegering die met zeer nauwe toleranties is bewerkt om excentriciteit of trillingen in het aandrijfsysteem te elimineren.

ONDERARM EN CARTRIDGE

De C 588 heeft een speciaal ontworpen koolstofvezel toonarmschacht met een vaste metalen kop en is voorzien van een ontkoppeld contragewicht en magnetische anti-skate compensatie. Een Ortofon 2M Red cartridge is in de fabriek geïnstalleerd en biedt superieure tracking en een delicaat genuanceerd full range geluid. De C 588 gebruikt een langere 9" toonarm dan gebruikelijk om de overhang te optimaliseren en de tracking hoekfout te verkleinen. Om de stylus perfect uit te lijnen zijn aanpassingen voor azimut en verticale volghoek inbegrepen, evenals een meter om de uitlijning te kalibreren, een zeldzaamheid in deze prijsklasse.

NAUWKEURIGE ASSEMBLAGE

Om de micro-dynamiek van muziek volledig te realiseren is een zeer strakke mechanische koppeling van de schotel en de onderarm nodig. Dit vormt een driehoek, want de trillingen kunnen zich verplaatsen van de plaat die wordt afgespeeld, naar de schotel, door de schacht en het lager naar de basis (sokkel), omhoog door de armsteun en omlaag door de arm naar het patroon en de naald. Er zijn veel afzonderlijke onderdelen in dit pad en sommige daarvan moeten ten opzichte van elkaar bewegen via mechanische lagerinterfaces. Als er enige speling is in deze mechanische interfaces zal er muzikale energie verloren gaan. Dit is de reden waarom NAD strikte aandacht heeft besteed aan precisiebewerking, assemblage en testen die zo belangrijk zijn in een draaitafel.

RESONANTIECONTROLE EN ISOLATIE

Het tot een minimum beperken van alle valse trillingen is van cruciaal belang om het beste resultaat te krijgen bij het afspelen van vinyl. Aangezien deze trillingen uit verschillende bronnen kunnen komen, zowel intern als extern, moeten de materialen en afmetingen allemaal zorgvuldig worden berekend om alle resonanties te verminderen en in balans te brengen om een opbouw van energie bij bepaalde frequenties te voorkomen. Om de externe trillingen te isoleren van de luidsprekers of de voetstappen die op de vloer stuiteren, gebruiken we een massieve MDF-voet met speciaal afgestemde trillingsdempende voetjes, samen met een dikke niet-resonante stofkap. De keuze van de glasplaat, de viltpad, de MDF-voet en de koolstofvezel-tonarm is zorgvuldig overwogen om samen te werken en zo valse trillingen te beperken en te verminderen.

She is treated as an outcast in the court and repressed by her family due to the blood of the Fae within her and forced to join the Temple of the Three as a priestess in training to one day replace Merlin. Her brother, King Arthur, who reminds me of Joffrey from Game of Thrones, later tells her that he has other plans and offers her a choice of the Temple or to marry her off for political gain, unless… that is, she can journey through the great unknown and return with a long-lost fae weapon with enchanted powers known as Excalibur. Her quest begins with a roguish crew that includes the mysterious, arrogant, and heart-tuggingly handsome Captain of the Royal Guard, Kairos Draven, whom she can’t decide if she wants to stab or indulge in pleasure with. Along the way are plenty of surprises, mystical creatures, and betrayal, all while Morgan uncovers more of the truth about herself and who she can trust. Wow so I'm not sure where to begin on this one. This was a very different take on the legend of Arthur and Excalibur. This is told from the point of view of Morgan the sister of Arthur. Honestly the first 50% of this book is world building and character building which unfortunately was super boring for me. Morgan to me was a female MC that had a hard time in believing in herself. Sometimes taking too long to understand exactly what was going on around her. Draven was also a different male MC, like I couldn't put my finger on him and what he was all about. It was not until the last 10% of the book did we get some answers on the mystery that is Draven. The other 50% of the book centered around this big journey with everyone having a different motive. We see a spark of magic around this time that had me excited but then we never expanded upon that and what it could mean for the female MC. I feel like I want to read the second book just to see where this goes, but the spice was probably a 2 out of 5. Side characters are ok, Lancelet was fun but I almost felt like I wanted more.

I knew the basics of the legend but after reading this book, it has piqued my interest and makes me want to learn more about it. My attention was snatched as soon as I finished the prologue and I knew that I was going to devour this story. I truly enjoyed the gender swaps and even how Arthur was portrayed as villainous. Morgan’s past and even her parts of her present is absolutely heartbreaking, and I felt for her at times. I can only recall one other book that made me hate characters the way I despised Florian and Arthur, leaving me with my blood boiling and feeling disgusted. Even after finishing the book, Draven is still a mystery to me and I cannot figure out how to feel about him. I guess they just means that the author did an excellent job at conveying each character’s persona! The rich world building and imagery made it easy for me to visualize the places that the group visited along their journey. I am truly engulfed in this story and I cannot wait to see wait fate awaits Morgan and how the Fae will be even more incorporated in the next book!.
