Deze Grosses Gewächs (de equivalent van Grand Cru in de Bourgogne) Spätburgunder komt 100% uit het topperceel Bacharach Wolfshöhle, een van de beste locaties van de Mittelrhein. Hier vindt men een combinatie van kleileisteen en kristallijne leisteen: de beste voorwaarden voor de rode wijnen. Er worden voor deze wijn alleen druiven van de oudste stokken met een zeer lage opbrengst gebruikt. Een gedeelte van hele trossen gaan mee in de vergisting. De wijn wordt 2 jaar maanden gerijpt in gebruikte barriques. De wijn wordt ongefilterd gebotteld.
