De Nederlandse fotograaf Gijsbert Hanekroot maakte de foto in 1973 in Londens Rainbow Theatre.

Het waren de hoogtijdagen van Neil Young en Hanekroot verkeerde in die tijd voor Muziekkrant OOR als een van de weinige fotografen meermaals in de nabijheid van de artiest.

‘Van de 300-plus artiesten die ik in de zeventiger jaren heb gefotografeerd, zijn er een paar bijzonder belangrijk voor mij. Niet alleen omdat ik graag naar hun muziek luister, maar ook omdat ik in de gelegenheid was ze veelvuldig te fotograferen. Neil Young staat in mijn top drie. Dit is dan ook een belangrijk boek voor mij’, aldus Hanekroot.

Neil Young By Hanekroot bundelt voor het eerst de unieke beelden van de artiest en diens entourage. Hanekroot’s naamgenoot Gijsbert Kamer schreef een essay voor het fotoboek.

Kamer stelt: ‘Gijsbert Hanekroot was in de jaren zeventig misschien wel de belangrijkste popfotograaf van Nederland. Alle grote internationale popsterren kwamen voor zijn camera. Veel van hen volgde hij in binnen- en buitenland. In zijn oeuvre neemt Neil Young een grote plaats in, wat zijn weerslag krijgt in Neil Young By Hanekroot. Een imposant fotoboek dat de jaren 1971-1976 bestrijkt. Misschien wel de meest cruciale fase in de carrière van Young. Het was de tijd waarin de Canadese popster persoonlijk door de diepste dalen ging maar ook zijn grootste successen kende. Hanekroot was erbij toen Young met Crosby, Stills & Nash in Amerikaanse stadions speelde, en nam in 1973 de foto in Londen die uiteindelijk de hoes zou worden van misschien wel Youngs meest aangrijpende album Tonight’s The Night (1975).’

On the fence? This is the sheepskin to get!

I've been reading all the reviews for sheepskins on AMZ and felt this company was the one to go for and WOW did they deliver! The sheepskin came well wrapped but not vacuum packed and is even prettier in person than the pictures. It is super soft, fluffy and dense and mine measured 26" x 40". I absolutely love the wolf tipped colors: ivory, dark grey and a slight brownish hue. There is a slight odor but I don't find it offensive. It stayed put on my leather couch and sitting on it during a Netflix movie was heavenly warm and comfortable. I did not observe any shedding. Will definitely buy another wolf tipped one, once it becomes available as it is worth the money.

I bought a ‘Genuine Sheepskin Rug Double Pelt Natural White Fur 2x6’ from Amazon in 2011 for $112.49, and recently decided to recommission it in my new living room. And I immediately ordered the ‘Genuine Sheepskin Rug Double Pelt Natural White Fur 2x6’ shown on this page from Super Area Rugs for $119.00. What a difference! These rugs are large, plush, and super soft. The quality of these rugs is obvious, much, much nicer that either my old sheepskin rug or the ‘bargain’ rug I returned to Amazon. I was so impressed with the quality of this rug that I immediately ordered a second, which arrived this morning (it matches the other rug perfectly). My older sheepskin has been reassigned to another room because, well, it’s not in the same league as my two new rugs, which look terrific together. As is so often the case, you get what you pay for. So if you’re looking for a top quality sheepskin rug, this is the one you want.
