Op 1 november 2024 verschijnt het langverwachte tweede album van Thijs Boontjes, getiteld Dancing Boontjes. Op de opvolger van debuutalbum Geen Achttien Meer (2019) laat Boontjes zich kennen als activist, bon vivant en als partner die het soms verkloot. Het nieuwe kabinet moet het ontgelden in protestlied Fiasco (Gênant, Gênant) en in Nachtportier beklaagt hij zich over toenemende xenofobie, homofobie en andere vormen van intolerantie in onze samenleving. Zelfs onder de meest ellendige omstandigheden weet Dancing Boontjes toch de algehele stemming fier overeind te houden, al dan niet met een bitterzoet drankje (Campari Soda) in de hand, als wapen tegen de diepgewortelde Calvinistische vlakheid van ons vaderland. Thijs Boontjes geeft als geen ander woorden en context aan het fenomeen “menselijke onbeholpenheid”, en slaat zichzelf daarin niet over. Op muzikaal gebied beweegt de plaat zich via rock ‘n’ roll, italo en een enkele punkuitschieter weer terug naar haar Nederpopbasis die je overal in terughoort.
