“Normaal gesproken zitten er op Delfts blauw serviesgoed grote decoraties. Maar ik wilde er juist kleine delen uithalen en deze plaatsen aan één zijde van het aardewerk. De decoratie kruipt als het ware uit de rand. Dat geeft het servies een rustige aanblik. En het zorgt ervoor dat de decoratie goed zichtbaar is, wat er ook wordt gegeten of gedronken. Stel dat je een mooi bord opmaakt, dan plaats je het eten mooi in het midden, zonder dat de decoratie in de weg zit.”
