He wears a cartridge belt over his thobe (long shirt) and has large plain headscarf (ghutra) wrapped loosely around his head. In the background the stoney ground is bare of vegetation. Wilfred Thesiger spent a week on Jebel Hafeet [Jabal Hafit] hunting Arabian Tahr [Hemitragus jayakari] with Arab and Bedouin guides in April 1948.
