The Riv began as a nod to a place woven into the GiantMouse story. When the company moved from the Bay Area to the Lansing area in 2020, there was a dive bar near the corner of Albert and M.A.C. that already carried years of memories from nights spent there during our CEO’s college days. The Riv was loud, familiar, a little rough around the edges, and full of the kind of character that makes a place feel like home. Naming a knife after it felt natural, because the Riv is the sort of spot where ideas take shape and stories settle in. That same energy guided the knife that now shares its name.
From there, the Riv grew into something more than a companion to the classic ACE Biblio. It earned its place by being built from scratch with its own rhythm and attitude. The lineage is there, but the Riv stands apart with a shape and feel that mark it as its own creature. We never believed in shrinking or stretching an existing design just to hit a size. The Riv was shaped with purpose, not shortcuts.
This titanium version is blacked out with a PVD finish, anchored by a brass backspacer that brings in a warm, rugged touch. It looks compact, then surprises you when you put it to work. The Riv echoes the old idea of always keeping a sharp, dependable folder ready for the finer moments, or for the times when your main blade comes up short. It is built to be used, carried, trusted, and welcomed back into the pocket day after day.
The place inspired the knife, and the knife reflects the place. Straightforward, capable, full of character, and always ready for whatever happens next.
