The Black Walnut tree has served as a source of both food and medicine for indigenous tribes of North America. The bark is traditionally used for its astringent property, which helps to soothe gastrointestinal distress.

In Western herbalism, Black Walnut is synonymous with intestinal cleansing. While the hulls are more often recommended for that purpose, the bark also offers a mild intestinal health support. However, Black Walnut bark is primarily appreciated for its ability to tighten & tone muscle and tissues.

Common use:

Herbal astringent; promotes intestinal health; supports blood cleansing.

Suggested directions:

To prepare as an “instant tea”: Pour 1 cup of boiling water over ¼ to ½ teaspoonful of powder. Drink 1-2 cups of tea daily. If desired add honey and/or lemon to suit taste. NOT RECOMMENDED FOR LONG TERM USE.
