Victron BlueSolar PWM-Light Solar Charge Controller: Reliable 12/24V Regulation for Off-Grid Systems

Efficient PWM Charging with Integrated Load Control

The Victron BlueSolar PWM-Light 12/24-30 offers a straightforward, dependable solution for managing solar energy in small to medium off-grid installations. Designed for 12V and 24V battery systems, this 30A controller uses pulse width modulation (PWM) technology to deliver a three-stage charge cycle—bulk, absorption, and float—that helps maintain battery health and extend service life. Unlike generic controllers, the BlueSolar PWM-Light includes a dedicated load output with low voltage disconnect, protecting your batteries from deep discharge damage while powering DC loads directly.

With automatic system voltage detection, the unit adapts to your battery bank without manual configuration, reducing setup time and the risk of incorrect settings. The integrated two-digit seven-segment display provides clear status information and allows quick adjustment of the load output timer, making it a practical choice for lighting control, water pumps, and other timed DC applications.

Built-In Protection for Demanding Environments

Off-grid systems face unpredictable conditions, from voltage spikes to wiring faults. The BlueSolar PWM-Light incorporates multiple layers of protection to safeguard your investment:

  • Battery reverse polarity protection via a fuse prevents damage if battery connections are accidentally reversed.
  • Output short circuit and overload protection automatically disconnects the load to prevent wiring damage or fire risk.
  • Over-temperature protection reduces charge current if the controller exceeds safe operating limits, ensuring reliable performance in hot Australian conditions.

These features reduce the risk of system downtime and costly component replacements, giving you confidence in remote or unattended installations.

Simple Lighting Control with Day/Night Timer

For applications like pathway lighting, signage, or security lights, the built-in lighting control function offers a single programmable timer. The controller can automatically switch loads on at dusk and off after a set number of hours, or provide dusk-to-dawn operation. This eliminates the need for separate timers or photocells, streamlining your system design and reducing wiring complexity.

Key Features at a Glance

  • Automatic 12/24V system voltage detection for flexible installation
  • Three-stage PWM charging (bulk, absorption, float) to optimise battery life
  • Load output with manual control and low voltage disconnect to protect batteries
  • Integrated day/night timer for automated lighting control
  • Two-digit seven-segment display for status monitoring and timer configuration
  • Comprehensive protection: reverse polarity, short circuit, overload, over-temperature
  • Common positive grounding compatible with many existing systems
  • Compact IP20 design for indoor or protected mounting (70 x 133 x 33.5 mm)
  • Terminal size 5 mm² / AWG10 for secure, low-resistance connections
  • Wide operating temperature range: -20 to +50°C at full load

Where the BlueSolar PWM-Light Excels

This controller is particularly well suited to smaller off-grid setups where simplicity and reliability are paramount. Typical applications include:

  • Caravans, camper trailers, and RVs needing a compact, easy-to-install solar regulator
  • Remote cabins or sheds powering basic lighting and DC appliances
  • Solar-powered water pumps or ventilation fans with timed operation
  • Marine and boat systems requiring a corrosion-resistant, low-self-consumption controller
  • Backup power systems for security cameras, electric fences, or gate openers

With a self-consumption of less than 10 mA, the BlueSolar PWM-Light draws minimal power from the battery when no solar energy is available, preserving stored energy for your loads.

Designed for Australian Conditions

Victron’s engineering ensures the BlueSolar PWM-Light handles the temperature extremes and high UV exposure common across Australia. The controller’s conformal-coated circuit board resists moisture and dust, while the robust terminal block accepts up to 10 AWG (5 mm²) cable, allowing for secure, low-loss connections even in high-vibration environments like vehicles and boats.

Note: For 12V systems, use 36-cell solar panels; for 24V systems, use 72-cell panels or two 36-cell panels in series. This ensures the maximum solar voltage (28V for 12V systems, 55V for 24V systems) is not exceeded.

Take Control of Your Off-Grid Power

Whether you’re upgrading an existing solar setup or building a new system from scratch, the Victron BlueSolar PWM-Light 12/24-30 delivers the essential features you need without unnecessary complexity. Its proven PWM charging algorithm, integrated load control, and robust protection make it a smart choice for anyone seeking a dependable 30A solar charge controller for 12V or 24V applications. Add one to your system today and experience the peace of mind that comes with Victron quality.

A Beta Worth Rooting For
Format: Kindle
In Spare, Violet Fox flips the omegaverse on its head, giving us a Beta heroine determined to make her mark. Joining the Beta Trials to support her sick father, she's thrown into a pack that doesn't want her, especially the possessive Alphas. But here's the twist: their sweet Omega turns out to be her scent match. Cue the angst, forbidden tension, and a slow-burn romance that will make your heart ache in the best way. Violet Fox delivers an emotional, refreshing take on the genre, proving Betas aren't "spares." They're stars.

Beta, Alpha, Omega oh my!
Format: Kindle
Omegas are precious and given to Alphas & their packs... but the Betas want in too. To this end, the Beta government is rolling out its trial of assigning a Beta to each Alpha-Omega pack. But forcing a Beta into a pack where they are not wanted will not end well... Of course, no one expected the Omega to fall for the assigned Beta. Great read and cliffhanger

A familiar story, just with…..less.
Format: Kindle
So, as other reviewers make clear, this is very similar to Pack Darling and The Beta. It’s much closer aligned with The Beta, in plot and maybe more like Pack Darling with characters. That being said, I don’t hate this…..but it wasn’t great either. It’s both books mentioned but just….less. Less angst, less emotion, less feeling. The plot feels very half fleshed out, and the “bad guy” feels underwhelming. I didn’t really feel any real emotions from and of the male leads, except maybe Oliver. The others fell sorta flat for me. And Mika makes herself out to be this big bad ass straight outta training and then we never see it from here again with the one fitting room incident as the exception. SPOILER: The whole, “Oh, I’m actually probably an Omega, but I don’t wanna be but I do actually wanna be but no one can ever know my secret that I do nothing to hide “ thing fell so flat. She never commutes to believing she was secretly an omega, but also mentions her “secret” a lot. It just felt so manufactured. I’m intrigued enough to read part 2 and see how the author closes everything out, but this is not one I’ll recommend or ever come back to.

Fun with a late blooming omega
Format: Kindle
I like this book. The story is fun, cute, and sexy. There's just a little drama, some excellent, steamy scenes, and a fairly good relationship building storyline. I especially like how all the main characters are a bit older than the usual 20 somethings I tend to see in this kind of book. Having said that, I wish there were more descriptions of the places, as well as the food in the fancy restaurant. I enjoyed the cocktails at the club, so I missed that kind of detail when Gray took Madison on a dinner date. I also wish there had been more interaction between Lucas and Madison, and Lucas and Rian. It felt a bit lopsided, with a focus on Rian, Madison, and Gray. I wish it had been proofread - there are a lot of typos, but nothing too distracting.
