Hereke Rugs are quite exceptional, and are considered to be among the finest, "high-end" carpets produced in Turkey due to the top quality of the Wool, Bursa Silk and Cotton used in their construction and the intricate, floral and curved designs more typical of Oriental Rugs. The designs originate from the historical period of the 16th Century Ottoman Empire when Sultans engaged Master Weavers from all over the Middle East to produce quality “Works of Art” for local and commercial “high-end” customers.
