Бойовий статут розроблений робочою групою у складі представників Головного управління безпілотних систем Генерального штабу Збройних Сил України, Командування Сил територіальної оборони Збройних Сил України, відділу забезпечення ситуаційної обізнаності Центру геопросторових даних. У статуті під підрозділами безпілотних авіаційних комплексів (далі — БпАК) (рота, взвод, відділення (зовнішній екіпаж)) розуміються роти БпАК, взводи БпАК, відділення БпАК, зовнішні екіпажі БпАК, на озброєнні яких перебувають БпАК із безпілотними літальними апаратами (далі — БпЛА) I класу.

До І класу відносяться БпЛА згідно з класифікацією, наведеною у Наказі Міністерства оборони України від 08.12.2018 № 661 “Про затвердження Правил виконання польотів безпілотними авіаційними комплексами державної авіації України” (зі змінами). Бойовий статут є військовою публікацією, що розкриває основні завдання рот БпАК, взводів БпАК, відділень БпАК, зовнішніх екіпажів БпАК, форми, способи, тактичні прийоми застосування БпЛА зазначеними підрозділами, порядок підготовки та застосування БпАК. При застосуванні положень Бойового статуту важливо не допускаючи формалізму і шаблонності, діяти у відповідності до конкретних умов обстановки, резерву часу, рішень старших начальників тощо.
