ResinTech CRU Chemical-Resistant Urethane — Premium Protective Finish Coat
Two-Component, High-Solids Aliphatic Polyurethane Finish Coat — Maximum Chemical, Abrasion & UV Protection | Brand: ResinTech | 6 L kit
ResinTech CRU is a premium aliphatic polyurethane finish coat used as the final protective layer over compatible epoxy, polyaspartic, broadcast and traffic coating assemblies. It is for projects that need more than a standard topcoat: better long-term wear resistance, stronger chemical protection, excellent UV stability and a hard, cleanable finish. CRU is the thin durability layer of the ResinTech line — the final armour coat, not the build coat, membrane or fast-track coat. Confirm chemical exposure, surface preparation, system compatibility and cure schedule against the current ResinTech TDS, SDS and project specification before use.
- Thin film only. Apply at 3–6 mils (recommended); never exceed 20 mils total. CRU is a thin finish coat and will fail in cure, appearance and adhesion above this thickness.
- Not recoatable once cured. CRU is the final coat. If any material must go over cured CRU, the surface must be mechanically abraded (sanded) first for a physical bond only — cured CRU will not chemically recoat.

Best-Use Applications
Confirm all applications against the current ResinTech TDS before specifying.
- Premium topcoat for parking decks, ramps, drive lanes, turning zones and service areas
- Final protective coat over sand, quartz, flake and reinforced traffic coating systems
- Commercial, institutional, warehouse, mechanical room, automotive and light industrial floors
- Exterior or interior floors where UV stability, abrasion resistance and cleanability matter
- Balconies, podium decks, walkways, corridors and amenity areas over compatible base systems
- Food and beverage, service, utility and maintenance spaces exposed to routine cleaning chemicals
- Protective clear or pigmented upgrade over HPP, TUE, CBE or other compatible cured coatings
- Parkade and strata restoration projects where long-term durability is valued over fastest cure
Product Data
Source: ResinTech CRU Technical Data Sheet (TDS-CRU-1.0). Typical values at 23 °C and 50% RH unless noted. Confirm against the current TDS before specifying or ordering.
| Property | Typical Value | Note |
| Components | Two — Part A resin + Part B hardener | Pre-proportioned kit as supplied |
| Mixing | Full kit or accurately measured proportions only | Low-speed mechanical mix 2–3 minutes |
| Solids Content | 92% by weight | ASTM D1353 |
| Chemistry | High-solids aliphatic polyurethane | Premium UV-stable protective finish chemistry |
| Appearance | Clear or pigmented | Use compatible pigment / colorant where specified |
| Odour | Low to moderate | Ventilation required during application and cure |
| Shelf Life | 12 months | Unopened; stored properly at 10–30 °C |
Performance Properties
Typical values from the ResinTech CRU TDS. Actual results depend on substrate, base coat, preparation, mixing, film build and conditions — confirm against the current TDS.
| Property | Typical Value | Test Method / Note |
| Bond Strength to Concrete | 280 psi | ASTM D4541; substrate and base coat control final adhesion |
| Tensile Strength | 5,800 psi | ASTM D412 |
| Elongation | 4% | Hard protective film; not a flexible membrane |
| Abrasion Resistance | 20 mg loss (best in the line) | ASTM D4060, CS-17 wheel, 1000 g, 1000 cycles |
| Shore Hardness | 75 D | ASTM D2240 |
| Tack-Free Time | 8 hours | ASTM D1640 typical |
| Drying Time | 18 hours at 5 mils | ASTM D1640, 24 °C / 50% RH |
| UV Stability | Superb | Suitable as exposed interior / exterior protective topcoat |
| Chemical Resistance | Superb | Premium chemical-resistant finish coat in the ResinTech line |
| Return-to-Service Speed | Standard | Prioritizes long-term protection over fast cure |
Working Time, Recoat & Cure
CRU is a premium protection coat, not the fastest-return material — use HPP when speed is the priority, CRU when durability is. Confirm against the current TDS.
| Condition | Typical Value | Practical Note |
| Recoat / Overcoat Window | 4–6 hours (wet only) | Apply any second pass within this window. Once cured, abrade mechanically first. |
| Light Foot Traffic | About 24 hours | Protect from water, dust and early abuse |
| Vehicle Traffic | About 72 hours | Allow longer in cool, damp or low-airflow conditions |
| Full Cure | About 7 days | Delay aggressive cleaning and chemical exposure until full cure |
| Rain / Moisture Protection | Protect during early cure | Exterior work must be staged around weather and dew point |
Coverage & Film Build
Theoretical coverage per US gallon (6 L kit ≈ 1.6 US gal). Recommended film 3–6 mils; never exceed 20 mils total. Confirm against the current TDS.
| Use Mode | Typical Film Build | Typical Coverage |
| Premium Upgrade Topcoat | 4–6 mils | 665–440 ft²/US gal |
| Maximum-Protection Topcoat | 5–10 mils | 530–265 ft²/US gal |
| Clear Decorative Finish | 4–6 mils | Depends on flake / quartz profile and desired texture / gloss |
| Slip-Resistant Protective Coat | 5–10 mils | Broadcast media, profile and backroll pressure control final texture |
| EWS-X Protective Coat | 5–10 mils | Use with light aluminum oxide or specified media where extra grip / wear is required |
Application Conditions
Confirm all conditions against the current ResinTech TDS and project specification before use.
| Condition | Requirement |
| Substrate Temperature | 10–30 °C |
| Ambient Temperature | 10–32 °C |
| Relative Humidity | Maximum 85% recommended |
| Dew Point | Substrate at least 3 °C above dew point |
| Substrate Moisture | Dry concrete or compatible cured coating system; verify before coating |
| Concrete Age | Normally 28 days unless the designer approves earlier work |
| Minimum Concrete Strength | 3,600 psi compressive and 220 psi tensile pull-off |
