Description: 

As classic and recognizable as they come; the Hofner 500/1 Violin Bass as made famous by Paul McCartney and lovingly known as "the Beatle bass". This one is in very good condition and has that unmistakable violin bass tone. The body shows some general age and wear that you would expect from a nearly 60 year old instrument but is overall very clean. Neck shows a few minor dings but non that affect playability. Headstock shows some wear and finish chipping on the back top edge, but is otherwise clean with no major damage. Fretboard is in great shape. Frets have only minor wear and no issues. Hardware shows some age but is all in perfect working order including the floating bridge. Electronics work great and feature set of low/medium output hofner pickups for that unmistakable tubby violin bass tone. A pretty clean example of a classic bass guitar. Has been fully inspected and set up with La Bella Flat wounds made for the hofner violin bass by our tech and ready for a new home. Includes original gig bag.
