Yarn Kit – Sea Mist Shawl by George Cullen

Do you remember George's lush Sea Mist Shawl published in Laine Magazine Issue 11 back in the summer 2021? Seeing his design come to life I just completely fell in love with the striking contrasts between the wooly rustic qualities of the main colour and the more ethereal look and feel of the contrast colour.

Since then the rights for the Sea Mist have been given back to George and he has re-vamped his own design – still maintaining those fascinating textures! You can now get the pattern on its own through George's Ravelry Page or as part of a kit through Knit with attitude.

George says of the design:
My inspiration for the shawl was from trips to the Cornish coast where me and my boyfriend have spent many holidays. We like to walk the coast path and enjoy being out in the open air in stunning scenery. We have witnessed some spectacular weather and the most notable was a blanket of sea mist that rose up the cliffs and cloaked the fields.

Sea Mist features a wonderful play with texture and colour, using brioche and lace in a fascinating combination, with contrasting fibre blends. For this new version George has chosen Hillesvåg Sølje as it is soft but has a woolly honesty, and he has paired that with Fyberspates Cumulus offering the right amount of 'sea mist' cloudy fluff.

Pictured is: Sølje in Marineblå 2133 and Cumulus Slate 913. The kits contain all the yarn you need to complete your very own Sea Mist Shawl.

In addition you'll need 4mm circular needles and a darning needle to weave in your ends.
