32" Om Temple Wind Gong (#UIT566)
The Temple Wind Gong brings Uranian tones of insight and epiphany, mixed with calm meditative sounds of devotion and repose. The Temple Wind helps to achieve both religious ecstasy and spiritual wisdom. It soothes and centers, it grounds you and then lifts you up.
It is made in the classic Wind Gong style, lathed, with no rim coming back from the face. The lack of the rim helps to open the sound, allowing the gong to be built to a complex crash. To allow for the engraved design of the outer edge, the outer ring of the gong is left unlathed, similar to our Dark Star Gongs. This unlathed portion helps to contain some of the crash, bringing some focus and clarity to the overall sound and adding a level of control.
OM or AUM. It is merely the English transliteration of a Sanskrit term.
The symbol that we use to represent Om consists of three curves, a semicircle, and a dot.
The bottom curve represents our waking state.
The middle curve signifies the dream state.
The top curve suggests the state of deep sleep.
The dot signifies the fourth state of consciousness, a pure consciousness of spirit that transcends space and time and that informs all the others.
The semi circle at the top represents Maya and separates the dot from the other three curves. It signals to us that it is the illusion of Maya that can be an obstacle to realization of this Highest Mind.
