Can virtuous behavior be explained by nature, and not by human rational choice? It's the animal in us, we often hear when we've been bad. But why not when we're good? Primates and Philosophers tackles this question by exploring the biological foundations of one of humanity's most valued traits: morality.

In this provocative book, renowned primatologist Frans de Waal argues that modern-day evolutionary biology takes far too dim a view of the natural world, emphasizing our selfish genes and reinforcing our habit of labeling ethical behavior as humane and the less civilized as animalistic. Seeking the origin of human morality not in evolution but in human culture, science insists that we are moral by choice, not by nature.

Citing remarkable evidence based on his extensive research of primate behavior, de Waal attacks Veneer Theory, which posits morality as a thin overlay on an otherwise nasty nature. He explains how we evolved from a long line of animals that care for the weak and build cooperation with reciprocal transactions. Drawing on Darwin, recent scientific advances, and his extensive research of primate behavior, de Waal demonstrates a strong continuity between human and animal behavior. He probes issues such as anthropomorphism and human responsibilities toward animals. His compelling account of how human morality evolved out of mammalian society will fascinate anyone who has ever wondered about the origins and reach of human goodness.

Based on the Tanner Lectures de Waal delivered at Princeton University's Center for Human Values in 2004, Primates and Philosophers includes responses by the philosophers Peter Singer, Christine M. Korsgaard, and Philip Kitcher and the science writer Robert Wright. They press de Waal to clarify the differences between humans and other animals, yielding a lively debate that will fascinate all those who wonder about the origins and reach of human goodness.

Neutrogena clear face loción de protección para el sol
Size: 3 Fl Oz (Pack of 1), Style: SPF 50
Neutrogena Clear Face Sun Protection Lotion is one of the most popular options for the face, especially if you have oily or acne-prone skin. General opinion: it is a very good sunscreen for daily use, light and designed not to cause outbreaks. The positive: * It is oil-free and non-comedogenic, that is, it does not usually cover pores * It has a light texture and "matte" type, it does not leave the skin greasy * Absorbs quickly and can be used under makeup * Offers good SPF 50 protection against UVA/UVB rays * Many people with acne skin say that it does not cause pimples The not so good: * On very oily skin it can be a little shiny over the hours * It is not super moisturizing (if you have dry skin, it may feel a little "light") * Some people may be slightly irritated if they have very sensitive skin Final opinion: It is a highly recommended sunscreen if you have combination or oily skin and want something that does not cause acne. It is practical, cheap and reliable for day to day, but it is not the most "perfect" if you are looking for a totally dry finish or super hydration. If you want, tell me your skin type (dry, oily or mixed) and I'll tell you if it's the best option for you or if there's an even better one.

Matte, weightless, mildly drying
Size: 3 Fl Oz (Pack of 1), Style: SPF 50, Size: 3 Fl Oz (Pack of 1), Style: SPF 50
Very good sunscreen. It is very similar to the Neutrogena Ultra Sheer sunscreen but with less/minimal fragrance. It absorbs immediately and feels matte and invisible. The only slight downside is that the silica in the sunscreen is actually so good at absorbing oil that it is mildly drying. This is great for people with oily skin, but people with acne like myself often use retinoids that are already very drying, and this can magnify the dryness. I often follow this sunscreen with some moisturizer to counteract the drying effect.

No white cast.
Size: 3 Fl Oz (Pack of 1), Style: SPF 50
Doesn't leave a white cast on your face as long as you rub it in enough. It also doesn't break me out. Good product.

Great - effective sunscreen that isn't oily
Size: 3 Fl Oz (Pack of 1), Style: SPF 50
Works well, doesn't make your skin oily, almost disappears when you put it on. Made for faces but of course works anywhere else as well.

It is a good sunscreen, but if your skin is very oily, think again.
Size: 3 Fl Oz (Pack of 1), Style: SPF 50
I have tried many, MANY sunscreens, and this one is in my top 10, but not at the very top. Why not? Well, what I like about it is that you get a good amount for an excellent price. It's lightweight, but not extremely so, and this size can easily last you 3 months without any problem. However, while it's made for oily skin, it's not that light. After just a few hours of application, it can leave your skin feeling greasy, especially if you sweat easily. It doesn't leave a white cast, but it does leave a slight, shiny finish. Reapplying isn't very comfortable. If you use it just once a day, it's fine, but if you apply it more often, your skin will feel a bit heavy and oily. I think this sunscreen is better for specific occasions rather than for daily use. If I had to choose a sunscreen for daily use, I would pick one with a lighter formula, like Fusion Water from Isdin.
