Sennheiser HD 26 PRO Professional On-Ear Monitoring Headphones

The Sennheiser HD 26 PRO (Article Number: 505691) is a high-performance, closed-back supra-aural (on-ear) headphone system purpose-built for elite radio, television broadcast, and field engineering applications. Often dubbed the industrial big brother to the legendary HD 25 series, the HD 26 PRO introduces an improved ergonomic split headband, a more detailed and accurate acoustic tuning curve, and specialized onboard DSP protection designed to guard professional operators from unpredictable field signals.

Key Acoustic and Mechanical Attributes

  • Onboard Switchable ActiveGard Hearing Protection: Outfitted with Sennheiser's patented, analog mechanical switch-controlled ActiveGard limiting circuit. When activated, it suppresses sudden, dangerous incoming audio spikes (such as unexpected signal feedback, screaming fans, or transmission bursts) over 105 dB, protecting the engineer from acoustic shock without introducing signal distortion.

  • Ergonomic Split Headband Framework: Features a two-piece split headband that spreads wide to distribute pressure across the head. Combined with low clamping force and deep acoustic foam ear cushions, it provides an exceptionally comfortable fit during marathon broadcast shifts.

  • Structure-Borne Noise Isolation Cable: Supplied with a straight 1.5-meter replaceable cable that incorporates a specialized strain-relief coil at the top fork. This unique physical shape intercepts cable rubbing, microphonics, and structure-borne noise before it can travel up to the ear cups.

  • Swiveling Ear Cup for Single-Ear Monitoring: The mechanical arm holding the right ear cup is built with a heavy-duty swivel joint. This allows the cup to be flipped up and behind the ear instantly for easy single-ear cueing and environment tracking.

Field Configuration and Customization Advice

Managing the ActiveGard Limiter Toggle: The ActiveGard protection circuit is entirely passive and analog, meaning it operates without requiring external batteries. On the side of each ear cup assembly, under a small protective plastic shroud, sits a micro-toggle switch. Slide these switches to the "ON" position when working with live satellite feeds or unpredictable outdoor broadcast lines to keep your hearing safe. If you are mixing pre-recorded studio audio or mastering tracks and require full uncompressed dynamic headroom up to 128 dB SPL, slide the switches to the "OFF" position.

Converting to a Hybrid Broadcast Headset: Because the HD 26 PRO utilizes a fully modular architecture, it can easily be converted into a dynamic communication headset down the line. If your production needs expand into intercom cueing, you don't need to purchase a brand-new headset assembly. You can purchase a standalone Sennheiser BKE 26 boom microphone assembly and attach it right to your existing HD 26 frame, routing the signal cleanly via an upgraded multi-pin connection cable.

State of the Art Book!
This book was recommended to me by my graduate school professor as being the most up-to-date, most inclusive book on trauma therapy that exists today, and that it is! First, it is written in an organized and coherent manner. It is extraordinarily well written and engaging which is amazing for a text of this type. It contains information on just about every subject that a beginning trauma therapist as well as a well-seasoned therapist would want to know! This is an incredible book and my only criticism is that, knowing how much I shall be referring to it, it is only a paperback and I wish it were a hardcover so that it will withstand the test of time in better condition. The price is extraordinarily reasonable when one considers the cost of most textbooks these days. I highly, highly recommend this book as a MUST read for every trauma therapist, or trauma therapist in training. I cannot say enough excellent things about the Briere and Scott text. Buy it. You will not regret it for a moment! In addition, after purchasing the DSM-V, I can say that although this book was written before the DSM-V came out, it dovetails with it extremely well, and is a perfect book to purchase after getting the new DSM-V if you don't already have Principles of Trauma Therapy. It is for anyone who is a mandated reporter also, as I am. Presently, I'm a doctoral candidate in Special Education, and find that this book will be helpful there as well. As a person who has worked directly in Special Education for over 11 years, and have had professional contact with Special Needs children for over thirty years, this book is a must--for anyone who works with children, teens, (or adults who have just disclosed trauma) whether you are in Psychology or Special Education, or any allied field that makes you a mandated reporter. The book is a MUST HAVE.

Excellent book for students trying to grasp PTSD
As a professor teaching post traumatic stress reaction to graduate and undergraduate students, I was looking for a book that hit the basics along with some key pieces regarding assessment, diagnostic criteria, and examples that highlighted some of the subtleties associated with complex trauma. This book is well organized and not too overwhelming for people new and beginning the field and a nice refresher for seasoned clinicians. Easy to read, clearly outlined to build upon each subject, I found it both a solid read, affordable, and made it a required read for my course. Please note that I purchased this book way back October 12, 2013 but only now getting to put my thoughts in writing.

Great interventions and Trauma Theory
Format: Paperback
This a great book if you work with victims of trauma and want to understand how different types of trauma can present and what interventions can be used (i.e urge surfing, cognitive restructuring, focus breathing, etc.). It also include a section about medications and what to address first in treatment. I think it’s great for new clinicians who may be looking for interventions to add to their clinical toolbox.
