After a serious illness in 1792, Goya spent five years recuperating and preparing himself for the burst of creativity that was to follow. He read deeply in the French revolutionary philosophers. From Rousseau he evolved the idea that imagination divorced from reason produces monsters, but that coupled with reason "it is the mother of the arts and the source of their wonders." In Spain he saw a country that had abandoned reason, and he peopled Los Caprichos with the grotesque monsters that result from such an action. Plate after plate shows witches, asses, devils, and other strange creatures, many of which are caricatures of members of the society against which Goya was fighting.The plates were first published in 1799. There are still in existence, however, six extremely rare sets of artist's proofs, considered by most who have managed to see them as infinitely superior to the work actually published. Now, for the first time, this edition reproduces one of these sets of 80 prints, together with the "Prado" manuscript, a commentary on the plates. In addition, this collection contains supplementary material to the Los Caprichos series, inlcuding a never-before-published study for Caprichos 10; three unique proofs of plates probably intended for publication with the others; a preliminary drawing for plate I, a self-portrait of Goya (which appears as the frontispiece to this volume); and a unique proof of "Woman in Prison" which may represent an earlier version of Caprichos 32.

Shipped quickly and as described
It was what I expected as functionality, lightweight and easy to move about. I plan to use it in my enclosed patio to obscure weight bench and wts. My only complaint is that the bamboo cover on one edge is not secure. But I will probably use a magic marker to cover the natural back that is showing. I don’t have time to return it as my event is coming soon.

Good product, needs double hinges for versatility.

Blocks out all the light, looks good, good color. Only con is that it is not double hinged so it is hard to position the extra panels because I bout 6 panels instead of the 4 I usually get. Good deal, very decent price with the free delivery. Very clean packaging, came in great shape, no smell or odor from the factory.

Very Pleased with Room Divider

This room divider is even better than I expected. It's sturdy but is lightweight enough that I could get the box up a flight of stairs with no problem whatsoever. It folds and unfolds easily and is very easy to move. And there's no assembly required! It really is woven and is quite attractive. The main reason I chose this item was price (although I did like the way it looked) and I got more for my money than I thought I would.

Works well

i bought this for 3 reasons.
1. Privacy when changing so I don't have to lock dog out of room.
2. In case MIL comes over and wants to snoop. She won't be able to see my bedroom.
3. A nice backdrop to use when taking photos of the clothing I make.
This is perfect for me.
My only "complaint" is that it is not the most sturdy thing. I have to finagle it in a way that keeps it from falling over.
But for the price, it can't be beat!
