Fire & Ice Arctic Convoys 1941-1945The Arctic convoys run to the ports of Northern Russia from 1941 to 1945 combined the man made and maritime horrors of the Battle of the Atlantic with the unforgiving ferocity of one of the most inhospitable of the world's climates. The Arctic convoys run to the ports of Northern Russia from 1941 to 1945 combined the man-made and maritime horrors of the Battle of the Atlantic with the unforgiving ferocity of one of the most inhospitable of the world's climates. Maintaining that lifeline through the waters of the Arctic circle was essential to the development and maintenance of the Anglo-American alliance with the Soviet Union. With the massive campaign on Germany's Eastern front hanging in the balance in 1941 to 1942, the German Armed Forces deployed significant numbers of submarines, bomber and torpedo aircraft, together with heavy ships such as the Tirpitz and Scharnhorst, against the slow-moving Allied convoys of merchant ships and their escorting forces. The challenge to maintain this lifeline placed a heavy burden on the resources of the Royal Navy. Here, in a contemporary battle summary, prepared by the Naval Staff of the Royal Navy, and supported by academic analysis and an extensive photographic section, those challenges and difficulties, the tragedies and the triumphs of the Arctic convoys, are laid bare.

A Shared Strategic Goal. The Arctic Convoys reflect the need to be able to work with enemies who become allies, and vice versa, and understand the strategic circumstances and imperatives that drive those choices. This strategic perspective and agility characterised ChurchillÕs approach to Stalin and the Soviet Union. It is notable that British co-operation with the Soviet Union started before the US had entered the war, and continued to the end, reflecting British strategic national interests throughout. The intent and comradeship forged through the existence of a common foe survived the many operational set-backs and doubts on both sides, and speaks clearly to the need in these matters to have a clear, shared strategic goal and enduring commitment to its achievement.

Leadership of Effective Collaboration. The collaboration and integration at a working level that was achieved in a short space of time was remarkable, given the suspicion and gulf of political outlook that existed at the outset. Genuine collaboration and integration delivered a whole that was greater than the sum of its parts. what Churchill is credited with calling Ôthe worst journey in the world.Õ

She goes through things pretty quick, and I know she could have destroyed ...
Size: Large (Pack of 1), Style: Stick Large
My dog is a heavy chewer, and player (Doberman). I got one of these when she was a puppy and about 2 years later it broke in half from periodic chewing and tugging. It was one of her favorites and I was impressed it lasted so long so I ordered another one. She goes through things pretty quick, and I know she could have destroyed this fast as well, but it probably helped that she had other things she was supposed to chew on instead. We never encouraged her to chew this, but she loves bringing it over so we can throw it, or tug on it. Never had any issues with the squeaker (until the first one broke in half after 2 years). I would recommend it, but try to encourage it for play and not for chewing. It is flexible and durable and handles a 70lb Doberman dangling from it periodically.

Fun!
Size: Large (Pack of 1), Style: Stick Large
This was nice and fun for my dogs. Squeegee could have last a little longer. It lasted about 2 weeks until they were bored of it but I think that’s more of a my dog issue.

High quality, durable, loved by my chewer *
Size: Medium (Pack of 1), Style: Stick Medium
Excellent chew bone Toy for aggressive chewer. I've purchased this same brand bone/ Toy for several years. One lasts at least 1-2 years ( if it doesn't get run over by a lawn mower). Lol. I usually pay $8-$9 for one in retail stores. This is an excellent price at $6. Squeaker stops after a few months but my Field Spaniel dog is deaf now anyway! He loves chewing on this for his gums and when people are gathered in the same room he just starts chewing and enjoying himself in the midst of fellowship.

Not for aggressive chewers

I got this for my 95lb lab who is an aggressive chewer thinking that it looked durable and would last a while. He tore it apart within an hour and I had to throw it away.

Felt durable but it couldn’t hold up
Size: Large (Pack of 1), Style: Stick Large, Size: Large (Pack of 1), Style: Stick Large
I really thought my pet wouldn’t be able to destroy it but it’s in tiny pieces in the trash now. we played together and she was gentle I guess because she didn’t bite or tug hard at all I left her alone with it like I’ve done before but this time she broke it down in chunks. Did not have this toy for more then 24 hours.
