Michael Wolfe's "exemplary" (Library Journal) collection of historical writings on the Hajj, now updated with a new introduction by Reza Aslan.

Since its inception in the seventh century, the pilgrimage to Mecca, or the Hajj, has been the central theme in a large body of Islamic travel literature. Beginning with the European Renaissance, it has also been the subject for a handful of adventurous writers from the West who, through conversion or connivance, managed to slip inside the walls of a city forbidden to non-Muslims. One Thousand Roads to Mecca collects significant works by observant travel writers from the East and West over the last ten centuries. The two very different literary traditions form distinct sides of a spirited conversation in which Mecca is the common destination and Islam the common subject of inquiry.

Excerpted works include travel narratives by Ibn Jubayr, Ibn Battuta, J. L. Burckhardt, Richard Burton, the Begum of Bhopal, John Keene, Winifred Stegar, Muhammad Asad, Harry St. John Philby, Lady Evelyn Cobbald, Jalal Al-e Ahmad, Malcolm X, and Michael Wolfe.

It's okay to cry
Format: Kindle
This picture book beautifully normalizes the reasons why children (and adults) may cry. It passes no judgment and does not belittle. Rather, some of the many reasons for tears are described; these include anger, sadness and happiness among others. Crying is seen as a normal response to being human. At the end of the book, there is additional information, some of it scientific, about tears. The book is sensitively illustrated with gorgeous pictures that enhance the text. This would be a great title to share with a child you know. Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this read in exchange for an honest review.

Great product
Style: Sustainable - Stretch Cloth, Size: 3 Count (Pack of 1)
I like the material, it seems to hold up that I haven’t had it very long. It dries completely between showers. It’s not over exfoliating.

Organic Cotton, Washcloth, and Gentle are Misleading
Style: Sustainable - Stretch Cloth, Size: 3 Count (Pack of 1)
I purchased this product because I was looking for a stretch washcloth to easily wash sunscreen off my back. All of the references in the descriptions to organic cotton are extremely misleading. The handles may be made of cotton but the “washcloth” is plastic and extremely rough. So washcloth is also misleading. It is stretchy - that is accurate. If you want to buy this product, don’t envision a typical washcloth that is bigger with handles because you will be disappointed as I was. The natural fiber scrub pads I bought to scrub my dishes are softer than these stretchy “washcloths”. And I didn’t read the fine print that it cannot be returned so now I am out $30.

Quick shipping, good seller
Style: Sustainable - Stretch Cloth, Size: 3 Count (Pack of 1)
These weren't what I hoped they were, so I wasn't all that pleased with them. The seller, though shipped them quickly. I cut them in half and am using them to scrub my back. I was looking for a cotton face cloth.
