Exploding Data: Reclaiming Our Cyber Security in the Digital AgeThe most dangerous threat we individually and as a society and country face today is no longer military, but rather the increasingly pervasive exposure of our personal information; nothing undermines our freedom more than losing control of information about ourselves. The most dangerous threat we--individually and as a society and country--face today is no longer military, but rather the increasingly pervasive exposure of our personal information; nothing undermines our freedom more than losing control of information about ourselves. And yet, as daily events underscore, we are ever more vulnerable to cyber-attack.

In this bracing book, Michael Chertoff makes clear that our laws and policies surrounding the protection of personal information, written for an earlier time, need to be completely overhauled in the Internet era. On the one hand, the collection of data--more widespread by business than by government, and impossible to stop--should be facilitated as an ultimate protection for society. On the other, standards under which information can be inspected, analyzed, or used must be significantly tightened. In offering his compelling call for action, Chertoff argues that what is at stake is not so much the simple loss of privacy, which is almost impossible to protect, but of individual autonomy--the ability to make personal choices free of manipulation or coercion. Offering colorful stories over many decades that illuminate the three periods of data gathering we have experienced, Chertoff explains the complex legalities surrounding issues of data collection and dissemination today, and charts a path that balances the needs of government, business, and individuals alike.

Sturdy - Easily Adjustable - Works as Advertised
I modified it to fit a small subwoofer under my desk. I flipped the arms, inverted them and screwed it on to the desk. Not the intended use, but it solved my issue perfectly. It's really sturdy, it'll be perfect for mini PC's.

Flexibility and clean desk space!!!
Bought three of these for my home office. Two for Synology NAS drives and one for a Mac Studio. The size ranges make this the perfect product to get everything off my desk. A little difficult to install with the desk upright so I suggest turning it on its side or over completely. In my case, I have these in sit stand desks which is great.

Decent bracket, Non-beveled screw holes cause complications
The screws that secure the mount to the underside of the desk stick out enough to cause the inner dimensions to change. I had to use the next hole down to increase the size of the bracket to accommodate my device, resulting in a less secure mount than desired. If the holes were beveled so that the screws fit more flush with the mount I'd be able to give it 5 stars. But the inner dimensions are not entirely as advertised due to the screws. Quality is up to standard otherwise, installation is relatively straightforward, price point is fine for a bracket of this size.

Great mount!
Great under desk NAS mount. Adjustable and sturdy, easy to install. Worked well for my Qnap TR-004 four slot DAS. I used 5/64 drill bit for the holes. Since my desk has a rear lip I reused rear stopper bit as a headphone hanger. I bend it slightly to a hook shape.
