The Ford style Mercury Comet tilt column features all Ford wiring and will accept your original Comet steering wheel. This column will attach to a modified original gearbox with an ididit installation kit. To install, simply remove the old column then cut and modify the shaft on your box into the 3/4"DD shape. Finish the installation of your new column using the original under dash mount and the new model specific floor mount that is included. Once in place, the original Comet wheel will be back in its original location and you'll have gained the convenience of 8-position tilt for that comfortable ride.

Steering coupler requried for installation (3/4"-36 x 3/4"DD)
The 3/4" solid shaft from your original column will need to be cut and modified into what is referred to as a DD shape.
Note: When installing your OEM steering wheel to your ididit Ford Style Retrofit Column, the OEM wheel must be for the same year application as the column. Use of a different year WILL result in damage to the turn signal switch.
May require additional components to complete installation.

Fast and easy but I dont trust the process to be fully automated.
The process was very smooth and fairly quick. The only challenge I had was that the CLAIM status showed complete but I had to manually go look up the status. There was no email or notification it was closed. After manually checking the status, I called customer support and they said since I called in, they would process the payout. I wonder if I didnt call in if they would have processed it? Also, the phone rep said they would issue me a amazon egift card but then the next day I received a email saying they mailed out the payout. Very poor communication but so far the process was easy and fast.

Easy Claims Process
It is not a long complicated process to file and resolve a claim. Be warned--sometimes they will want you to send back the defective or damaged product, even if it's not worth the shipping ---they pay. Overall worth the investment though.
