Technics SL-40CP Direct Drive Bluetooth Turntable at Vinyl Sound Toronto Canada

The Technics SL-40CP is a direct drive Bluetooth turntable from Technics (Osaka, Japan), available at Vinyl Sound in Toronto, Canada. Combining a coreless direct drive motor with built-in Bluetooth transmission, a built-in MM phono preamplifier optimised for the included Audio-Technica AT-VM95C cartridge, and a smaller footprint than the SL-1500C, the SL-40CP is designed for listeners who want genuine Technics direct drive performance with maximum system flexibility. It connects wirelessly to Bluetooth speakers or headphones with only a power cable required, or wired to any amplifier via its built-in phono stage. Available in Terracotta, Flat Black, and Silky Grey MDF plinth finishes to complement any interior.

Technics Direct Drive with Wireless Freedom

The SL-40CP's coreless direct drive motor eliminates cogging for smooth, stable rotation across both 33⅓ and 45 rpm playback speeds. The built-in Bluetooth transmission allows the turntable to stream audio wirelessly to any compatible Bluetooth speaker or headphone, reducing cable clutter to a single power connection when used in a wireless system. For wired use, the built-in MM phono preamplifier optimised for the included AT-VM95C cartridge connects directly to any amplifier with a standard line-level input. Detachable RCA, ground, and power cables provide flexibility for system upgrades and clean installation, while height-adjustable isolation feet reduce vibration transmission from the supporting surface.

Built for Flexibility and Easy Upgrades

The SL-40CP is designed with future upgrades in mind throughout. The standard half-inch removable headshell accepts any compatible MM or MC cartridge, making cartridge upgrades simple and tool-free. Detachable RCA and power cables allow both the signal and power connections to be replaced or upgraded independently. The smaller footprint compared to the SL-1500C opens up placement options in media cabinets, shelves, and tighter spaces where a full-depth Technics turntable would not fit. A hinged transparent dust cover protects the platter and cartridge when not in use without requiring full removal during playback.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Technics SL-40CP?

The Technics SL-40CP is a direct drive Bluetooth turntable with a coreless motor, built-in MM phono preamplifier, factory-installed Audio-Technica AT-VM95C cartridge, detachable RCA and power cables, removable half-inch headshell, and height-adjustable isolation feet. It is available in Terracotta, Flat Black, and Silky Grey MDF plinth finishes and has a smaller footprint than the SL-1500C for greater placement flexibility.

Does the Technics SL-40CP need an external phono preamplifier?

No. The SL-40CP includes a built-in MM phono preamplifier optimised for the included AT-VM95C cartridge, allowing direct connection to any amplifier with a standard line-level input. A separate phono stage is not required, though the detachable RCA output can also be connected to an external phono stage if preferred.

How does the Bluetooth work on the SL-40CP?

The SL-40CP transmits audio wirelessly via Bluetooth to any compatible Bluetooth speaker or headphone. In a fully wireless Bluetooth setup, only a power cable is required, eliminating all analogue signal cables from the system. For wired use, the standard RCA output and built-in phono stage are available simultaneously.

What cartridge comes with the Technics SL-40CP?

The SL-40CP comes with the Audio-Technica AT-VM95C pre-installed, a conical-stylus moving magnet cartridge from the VM95 series. The VM95 range shares a common cartridge body across all stylus levels, meaning the stylus can be upgraded to the VM95E (elliptical), VM95ML (microlinear), or higher without replacing the cartridge body.

Can I use a different cartridge with the Technics SL-40CP?

Yes. The SL-40CP uses a standard half-inch removable headshell, making it compatible with any MM or MC cartridge with a half-inch mount. Note that when using the built-in phono stage, it is optimised for MM cartridges. For MC cartridges, an external MC-compatible phono preamplifier connected via the RCA output would be recommended.

What colours is the Technics SL-40CP available in?

The SL-40CP is available in three MDF plinth finishes: Terracotta, Flat Black, and Silky Grey. Contact Vinyl Sound Toronto to check current stock availability in each colour.

How does the SL-40CP compare to the Technics SL-1500C?

Both turntables include a built-in phono stage and a pre-installed cartridge. The SL-40CP adds Bluetooth transmission and is available in three colour options with a smaller footprint, making it more flexible for compact or wireless setups. The SL-1500C uses a more elaborate two-layer chassis, a higher-specification gimbal-suspension magnesium tonearm, an Ortofon 2M Red cartridge, and a passive auto-lift mechanism. The SL-1500C is the more audiophile-focused option; the SL-40CP prioritises versatility, wireless connectivity, and design variety.

Where can I buy the Technics SL-40CP in Toronto or Canada?

The Technics SL-40CP is available at Vinyl Sound in Toronto, Canada, an authorised Technics dealer. Contact us to discuss colour options, system pairing, and to arrange a visit to our listening room.

Finally found my endgame mouse
Color: Classic Black, Color: Classic Black
Finally found my endgame mouse — perfect for lightweight lovers and RTS gamers. I've gone through a lot of mice over the years — office mice, productivity mice, various gaming mice — and I kept running into the same problem: they were either too heavy or too bulky for my taste. The Orochi V2 is the first mouse where I thought, "this is it." The weight and size are just right if you prefer a light, nimble feel in your hand. It doesn't fatigue your wrist over long sessions, and the compact form factor gives you great control without feeling like you're pushing a brick around your desk. If you play StarCraft 1 or other real-time strategy games that demand fast, precise movements, I genuinely think this is one of the best options you can find on Amazon. The responsiveness and accuracy make a noticeable difference when every click counts. Battery life is also excellent for a wireless mouse, and switching between Bluetooth and the 2.4GHz dongle is seamless. Overall, this is the mouse I keep coming back to — and I don't see myself switching anytime soon.

Very glitchy mouse won't accept clicks, made me reinstall windows
Color: White
TLDR: Ask ChatGPT about this mouse and it'll tell you that other users have reported issues with this mouse not clicking properly. It will tell you that this is a known issue with this mouse. So I'm an IT expert (programmer, been using PC's since Windows 3.1). And I could not get this mouse to work right. The mouse doesn't work right when the computer goes to sleep, and then wakes from sleep. This problem occurs on Windows 11 pro. When the mouse is connected in Bluetooth mode: First problem is, the mouse will NOT reconnect to the PC when the PC wakes from sleep, unless you have "Show notifications to connect using Swift Pair" disabled in windows Bluetooth settings. But setting is on by default. Second problem is, even with this setting disabled, and even if the mouse successfully reconnects when the computer wakes up, the computer will NOT accept clicks when it wakes up. This mouse apparently drops a phantom click that it never releases. The only way I could find to get rid of that phantom click is by pressing CTRL+ALT+DEL every time the computer wakes. This resets the phantom click and the mouse would function normally. But it's super annoying to have to press CTRL+ALT+DEL every time the PC wakes, especially since this mouse is supposed to be a gift to my little girl, I don't want her to have to deal with it not working perfectly. Also the mouse would sometimes stop accepting clicks even in the middle of playing games, but this only happened rarely in Bluetooth mode. On the wireless USB mode: The mouse cursor is NOT visible when windows first boots. You can't use the mouse to get to the box to type your PIN number to unlock the computer. You must use the keyword to get into windows, and then the cursor appears. This problem doesn't happen when using the mouse in Bluetooth mode, only in the wireless USB mode. And then the phantom click issue is MUCH more frequent in the wireless USB mode, and doesn't require the computer to wake from sleep, but happens randomly even in the middle of playing games... suddenly you can't click anything. And when waking from sleep, or when the mouse "goes to sleep", when it wakes up there's issues with clicks... and sometimes the cursor isn't even visible. Connecting a second mouse: When the computer stops accepting clicks, then even the second mouse would not be able to click. All connected mouses would stop being able to click. But this problem of not being able to click, would ONLY occur if the Razor Orochi V2 mouse was connected to the computer either via Bluetooth or wireless USB. If I disconnected the Orochi V2 mouse, then the problem never happens. So it's definitely this mouses's fault. But initially I didn't realize this mouse was the culprit. Because it affected all connected mice. So I thought, at first, that it was a windows issue... maybe a bad driver I had installed in the past. So I ended up reinstalling windows, trying to fix any potential driver issues. It wasn't until after that, when I discovered that the problem was this mouse all along. I was super upset to have reinstalled windows, and lost all my software and settings, only to then discover that the problem was still there and it was this mouse all along. As for getting my money back, amazon did not offer me an option to return the mouse and get a replacement. It only lets me send it back for a full refund. No option for replacement. So I think I bought this mouse when it was on sale. So it seems like they are expecting me to send it back, and then repurchase it at the new higher price, if I want to try it again. It's possible mine was simply defective. I did every imaginable thing to try to get this mouse to work. The mouse I had was brand new from Razor, but it was running an old firmware. I did a firmware update to version 1.03.00 (it was running version 1.02.00 when it arrived). I can confirm that firmware update did NOT fix the problem with the phantom clicks. I also set all the related devices in my device manager to not go to sleep, including the USB slots. That did NOT fix the problem with the phantom clicks. I also, at the advice of chatGPT, did a bunch of registry edits, none of which fixed the problem. I also, at the advice of chatGPT, wrote my own c# application, which attempted in various ways to force the mouse to release the phantom click, at least when the computer would wake up. I was trying to mimic the behavior of pressing CTRL+ALT+DEL. After many hours of coding, I was unable to programmatically correct the problems with this mouse. I really wanted this mouse to work because it's wireless, and its small, so it fits my daughter's hand. I'm now having to return this mouse at my time and expense, no option for replacement, lost whatever discount I got from the previous sale, and I lost days of my life trying to fix this mouse, and I lost some of my software and settings from the reinstallation of windows, so I have work to do just to get my daughter's computer back to normal again. Terrible experience. Conclusion: Ask ChatGPT about this mouse and it'll tell you that other users have reported issues with this mouse not clicking properly. It will tell you that this is a known issue with this mouse.

Works flawlessly for drafting use...
Color: Black, Style: Wireless, Pattern Name: Mouse
This mouse has been a great upgrade for my setup. The wireless connection is fast and reliable, and I honestly can’t tell the difference from a wired mouse. The sensor is very responsive, and everything feels smooth and precise, especially combined with the Logitech G mouse pad. I actually use this all day at work for drafting, so precision and comfort really matter, and this mouse delivers on both. I’ve even purchased several more for my drafting team, and everyone has been really happy with it. I also like the customizable weight system—you can adjust it to feel just right in your hand. Overall it feels solid, well made, and comfortable for long hours of use.

This is the last mouse you will ever buy
Color: Black, Style: Wireless, Pattern Name: Mouse
Just buy it. What can be said about this mouse that hasn't been said before? This is the perfect mouse, there is no contest. I know it is a bit on the pricier side, but if you need a mouse, just get the cheapest one you can get and start saving to get this one, IT'S THAT GOOD. The mouse glides over any decent mouse pad, you don't need to get a Logitech one. The shape is perfect for all kinds of grips and the weight system is great for customization. The led has different brightness levels, including turning it off completely to save more battery, and the keys are just silent and satisfying to press. Again, this is the best mouse ever, no other mouse will offer a better value for your money than this one. A bit steep, yes, but worth it.

One of the best mice I've ever owned
Color: Black, Style: Wireless, Pattern Name: Mouse
I was a little skeptical about this mouse but after 3 weeks of use it's continued to be my favorite mouse. Not only does it. Have a good feel. It is very durable and customizing. The weight is fantastic. If you get the charging pad it just glides. But is definitely worth its money
