Besonderheiten: Dieser aussergewöhnliche Single Malt Whisky wurde am 30. November 1982 in der Benromach Distillery destilliert und am 5. Oktober 2022 von Gordon & MacPhail im Rahmen ihrer Private Collection abgefüllt. Die Reifung erfolgte über 39 Jahre in einem First Fill Burgundy Cask, was zu einer limitierten Auflage von nur 202 Flaschen führte. Jede Flasche ist in einer edlen Holzbox verpackt und trägt die Fassnummer 3024410.

Tasting Notes:

  • Nase: Ein komplexes Bouquet aus frischen Früchten, Vanille und einem Hauch von Honig, unterstrichen von würzigen Noten und einem leichten Eichenton.
  • Gaumen: Vollmundig und reichhaltig, entfaltet sich der Geschmack mit Aromen von getrockneten Früchten, Schokolade und einem Hauch von Zimt, begleitet von einer eleganten Eichenwürze.
  • Abgang: Lang anhaltend und warm, mit einer stillen Süsse und einem sanften Eichennachgeschmack, der das Genusserlebnis perfekt abrundet.

Destillerie/Abfüller: Die Benromach Distillery wurde 1898 gegründet und liegt in Forres, Moray, Schottland. Sie ist bekannt für die Herstellung von Single Malt Whiskys mit einem subtilen rauchigen Charakter, der an die traditionellen Speyside-Stile vor 1960 erinnert. 1993 wurde die Brennerei von Gordon & MacPhail übernommen, die sie 1998 nach umfangreichen Restaurierungsarbeiten wiedereröffneten.

So, as other reviewers make clear, this is very similar to Pack Darling and The Beta. It’s much closer aligned with The Beta, in plot and maybe more like Pack Darling with characters. That being said, I don’t hate this…..but it wasn’t great either. It’s both books mentioned but just….less. Less angst, less emotion, less feeling. The plot feels very half fleshed out, and the “bad guy” feels underwhelming. I didn’t really feel any real emotions from and of the male leads, except maybe Oliver. The others fell sorta flat for me. And Mika makes herself out to be this big bad ass straight outta training and then we never see it from here again with the one fitting room incident as the exception. SPOILER: The whole, “Oh, I’m actually probably an Omega, but I don’t wanna be but I do actually wanna be but no one can ever know my secret that I do nothing to hide “ thing fell so flat. She never commutes to believing she was secretly an omega, but also mentions her “secret” a lot. It just felt so manufactured. I’m intrigued enough to read part 2 and see how the author closes everything out, but this is not one I’ll recommend or ever come back to.
