Allerdings nimmt im Alter die Fähigkeit des Körpers ab, ALA selbst zu synthetisieren. Aus diesem Grund ist es oftmals sinnvoll, die tägliche Ernährung mit Alpha-Liponsäure zu ergänzen.

Der Vitalstoff begeistert namenhafte Wissenschaftler. Der Antioxidanzienforscher Dr. Lester Packer, Professor an der renommierten Berkeley Universität hält den Naturstoff für "das mächtigste Antioxidans das der Mensch kennt". Das Besondere an ALA ist u.a., dass es andere Antioxidanzien wie z.B. Vitamin C und E reaktivieren kann, nachdem diese eigentlich "verbraucht" worden sind.

Bioaktive Form von L-Carnitin

In den Acetyl-L-Carnitin Kapseln befindet sich die "acetylierte" Form von L-Carnitin. Was sehr chemisch klingt, bedeutet eigentlich nur, dass es sich um eine biochemisch aktive Form des Carnitins handelt.
Im Vergleich zu herkömmlichem L-Carnitin hat das Acetyl-L-Carnitin eine höhere Bioverfügbarkeit. Es gelangt also schneller in die Körperzellen. Die acetylierte Form von L-Carnitin kommt beim Menschen in den Mitochondrien vor, den sogenannten "Kraftwerken" der Zelle. Diese arbeiten, beispielsweise beim Sport, mit der Energie aus Fettsäuren. L-Carnitin hat die Aufgabe, diese Fettsäuren zu den Mitochondrien zu transportieren. Im Umkehrschluss bedeutet dies, dass während sportlicher Betätigungen besonders viel L-Carnitin von den Zellen der Muskulatur verbraucht wird.
