Grenzen in der Kunst – Tschechische Kunst in drei Generationen konfrontiert drei tschechische Künstler*innen, deren Werke um die Zeit des Zweiten Weltkriegs sowie vor und nach dem Fall des Eisernen Vorhangs im Jahr 1989 entstanden sind. Der Abschnitt »um 1945« beschäftigt sich mit Toyens poetischen Gemälden und Zeichnungen, die zwischen Surrealismus und Abstraktion oszillieren. Die monumentalen Arbeiten der 1985 aus der Tschechoslowakei emigrierten Bildhauerin und Installationskünstlerin Magdalena Jetelová kreisen bis heute um das Thema Grenze. Und zuletzt steht Krištof Kintera für die Generation, die sich zur aktuellen politischen Situation in Tschechien äußert und zugleich eng mit der kulturellen Tradition seines Landes verknüpft bleibt. In seinen Installationen greift er subtil-elegant die Themen Widerstand und Heimat auf. 
Dieses (Buch)projekt entstand vor dem Hintergrund des interdisziplinären Forschungsverbundes »Grenzen in nationalen und transnationalen Erinnerungskulturen zwischen Tschechien und Bayern«,und wird getragen von den Universitäten Regensburg und Passau, der Karlsuniversität Prag, der UJEP Ústí n. L. (Jan Evangelista Purkyně Universität in Ústí nad Labem) und dem Adalbert Stifter Verein

TOYEN (1902–1980) war eine tschechische surrealistische Malerin, Zeichnerin und Grafikerin und Vertreterin des Poetismus.
MAGDALENA JETELOVÁ (*1946 Semily) ist eine tschechische Bildhauerin und Fotografin, die überwiegend in Deutschland lebt und arbeitet.
KRIŠTOF KINTERA gehört der jüngsten Generation an. Er arbeitet als Künstler und Bildhauer.

So, as other reviewers make clear, this is very similar to Pack Darling and The Beta. It’s much closer aligned with The Beta, in plot and maybe more like Pack Darling with characters. That being said, I don’t hate this…..but it wasn’t great either. It’s both books mentioned but just….less. Less angst, less emotion, less feeling. The plot feels very half fleshed out, and the “bad guy” feels underwhelming. I didn’t really feel any real emotions from and of the male leads, except maybe Oliver. The others fell sorta flat for me. And Mika makes herself out to be this big bad ass straight outta training and then we never see it from here again with the one fitting room incident as the exception. SPOILER: The whole, “Oh, I’m actually probably an Omega, but I don’t wanna be but I do actually wanna be but no one can ever know my secret that I do nothing to hide “ thing fell so flat. She never commutes to believing she was secretly an omega, but also mentions her “secret” a lot. It just felt so manufactured. I’m intrigued enough to read part 2 and see how the author closes everything out, but this is not one I’ll recommend or ever come back to.
