Dasylirion berlandieri ist in Mexiko in Nuevo Leon, Tamaulipas und San Luis Potosi in Höhenlagen von 400 bis 1900 m verbreitet. Die Art wächst in offenem, flachen Gelände oder in offenem Waldland an steinigen Hängen vergesellschaftet mit Yucca filifera, Agave striata, Hesperaloe malacophylla.

Das seltene und wenig bekannte Dasylirion berlandieri ist ein Mitglied der Sektion Glaucophyllum. Es ist im Nordosten von Mexiko verbreitet. Typisch sind die dünnen, variablen, wachsartigen bläulichen Blätter, die den kurzen Stamm bedecken. Aufgrund unterschiedlicher Bedingungen an den diversen Standorten sind Abweichungen im Erscheinungsbild erkennbar. Sie ähnelt Dasylirion palaciosii, das jedoch einen insgesamt schmaleren Blütenstand aufweist.

Dasylirion berlandieri bildet einen Stamm von 20 bis 50 cm Höhe. Die variablen, wachsartigen bläulichen Laubblätter sind 50 bis 120 cm lang und 10 bis 20 mm breit. Die unregelmäßig angeordneten Randdornen sind nach oben gerichtet.

Der rispige, holzige, schmale Blütenstand wird 2 bis 3,5 m hoch. Die zahlreichen Blüten sind grün bis gelbfarben. Die Blühperiode reicht von Mai bis Juni.
